Last Updated: December 23rd, 2024

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how UM Technologies Inc. d/b/a UrbanMount (“UrbanMount,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and its affiliates, parents, and subsidiaries collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information relating to individuals (“Users” or “you”) who access, interact with, or use our websites, mobile applications, and other related online or offline services (collectively, the “Platform” or “Services”). By using the UrbanMount Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy, and you agree to the handling of your personal information as described herein. If you do not agree to the terms of this Policy, you should discontinue use of our Platform.

1. INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE

UrbanMount is a technology platform that enables connections between Clients (individuals seeking home-related or similar services) and Specialists or Professionals (individuals or entities offering such services). The Platform is intended primarily for users in the United States, though it may be accessible from other locations. This Policy applies to all personal information collected by us in connection with your use of the Platform, including data provided when you create an account, post or respond to service requests, complete bookings or transactions, communicate with us or with other users, download or use our mobile applications, or otherwise interact with any portion of the Platform. This Policy does not override any additional terms or notices we may present for particular features. In the event of conflicts between any such feature-specific terms and this Policy, the feature-specific terms will control for that specific context.

2. KEY DEFINITIONS AND OVERVIEW

For purposes of this Policy, “personal information” (sometimes called “personal data”) refers to any information that identifies, relates to, or can reasonably be linked to you. This definition may vary under different laws or in different jurisdictions, but we use the term broadly to mean any piece of data that relates to or can identify a specific person. “Client” refers to a User who uses the Platform to request services. “Specialist” or “Professional” refers to a User who offers or performs services requested through the Platform. “Services” refers collectively to all aspects of our home or similar service marketplace, including transactions, communications, content, and any other functionalities we may provide. “Platform” describes the websites located at www.urban-mount.com and app.urban-mount.com, as well as any affiliated or successor websites, our “UrbanMount” and “UrbanMount for Pros” mobile applications, and any other related interfaces or services under our control.

3. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect personal information in multiple ways, including information you provide directly, data we obtain automatically through your interactions with the Platform, and data we may gather from third-party services. The scope of information may vary depending on how you choose to interact with us, but includes potentially the following categories:

A. Information You Provide Directly: You may share personal details such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, or other identifying credentials to set up or manage an account. You may also provide payment information when scheduling or paying for services, though note that we generally rely on third-party payment processors and do not store full credit card details. You may upload documents, photos, or descriptions relating to your home or requested services. If you are a Specialist, we may request professional or insurance details, licensing credentials, or government IDs for verification purposes, including Social Security numbers if required for background checks. In addition, you might submit reviews, ratings, or feedback about a Specialist or about work performed, or provide optional demographic data like age or gender if you choose.

B. Information Collected Automatically: Our systems and third-party providers may automatically log certain data about your device and behavior when you visit the Platform. This can include your IP address, approximate geolocation derived from your IP or device, operating system details, browser type or mobile device characteristics, and usage patterns such as pages or screens viewed, the frequency and duration of sessions, referral URLs, and other related metrics. We may gather analytics on how you navigate or engage with features, in order to tailor or improve our Services. If you enable location-based features on a mobile device, we may obtain more precise location data, for instance to show local service providers or relevant scheduling options.

C. Information from Third Parties: We may receive data from service providers and business partners. For example, if we run background checks on Specialists, we may collect identity verification results or licensing validations from background-check companies. If you choose to link an account from social platforms or sign in using credentials from a third-party identity provider, certain profile attributes or tokens may be shared with us based on your permissions. In some cases, booking or referral partners might transmit to us information about an appointment or request you initiated on their website or application so we can process or display that request on our Platform.

D. Data We Do Not Intentionally Collect: We do not specifically collect or request biometric data (e.g., fingerprints, facial geometry) or detailed health/medical records, unless required for an identified, lawful purpose with your explicit consent. Similarly, we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information related to race, ethnicity, religion, or political opinions, unless it arises in optional free-text fields. We also do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 16 years of age, as explained below under “Children’s Privacy.”

4. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

UrbanMount uses personal information primarily to operate, maintain, and enhance the Services we provide. This includes verifying user identities and qualifications, facilitating the posting of service requests by Clients and acceptance of those requests by Specialists, enabling secure communications and transactions, and providing user support. We also use personal information to send account-related or transactional communications (such as confirmations or service updates), to respond to your questions or feedback, and to provide relevant search results or listing information. We may analyze aggregated usage data to understand trends, improve the functionality and reliability of the Platform, debug technical issues, test new features, or measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns. In some cases, we may combine information from multiple sources to better tailor the user experience, identify fraudulent behavior, or enforce our Terms of Service. We may also use your personal information for other purposes disclosed at the time of collection or with your consent, or as otherwise permitted by law.

5. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may disclose personal information to third parties only in ways that are consistent with this Policy or otherwise explained to you. This includes our service providers who process data on our behalf for tasks like payment processing, hosting, analytics, marketing, identity verification, fraud detection, or technical support. We may share relevant contact or request details with Specialists (if you are a Client) or with Clients (if you are a Specialist), so that they can perform or contract for the Services in question. In addition, we may provide aggregated or de-identified data to partners or advertisers to evaluate product performance or user engagement without revealing specific identities. We may disclose personal information for legal or safety reasons if required by law or necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public. If UrbanMount is involved in a sale, merger, acquisition, financing, or similar business transaction, personal data may be transferred as part of that deal with due notice to you. We do not otherwise share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing unless explicitly stated or with your consent.

6. TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES AND COOKIES

We and certain third-party providers employ cookies, tracking pixels, and similar technologies throughout our Platform. These technologies help remember your preferences, understand usage patterns, and deliver relevant content or ads. Most browsers allow you to control or block cookies, but disabling them might affect certain features of the Platform. We may use web beacons in emails to measure open rates or track certain user actions. Additionally, we may partner with analytics or advertising firms (such as Google Analytics) that use cookies or other techniques to gather usage statistics. This helps us measure how users interact with our Platform, troubleshoot performance, and refine our advertising strategies. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” (DNT) browser signals, but in jurisdictions where Global Privacy Control or similar signals have legal force, we may abide by those requirements as they develop.

7. COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT

By providing a phone number or email address, you consent to receiving communications from us, which may include service-related announcements, account notices, and promotional offers. Some messages could be generated by autodial systems or contain prerecorded elements, depending on applicable laws. If you provide a number that is later reassigned to someone else, you should promptly update your account settings to prevent us from sending messages to the new holder. You can typically manage or revoke certain marketing communications by following unsubscribe or opt-out instructions, although we reserve the right to send non-promotional, operational communications (such as confirmations or updates regarding your use of the Platform). If you communicate or conduct transactions via text messages, calls, or in-app messaging, we may process, record, or monitor those interactions for safety, fraud prevention, or quality assurance reasons, consistent with the law.

8. INFORMATION RETENTION

UrbanMount retains personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, or as otherwise required or permitted by law, such as legal compliance, tax, accounting, dispute resolution, or contractual obligations. If information is used for multiple purposes, we will keep it until the purpose with the longest retention period has been satisfied. When personal information is no longer needed or has exceeded its retention period, we will securely delete or anonymize it. Please note that even after you delete or deactivate your account, copies of certain information, such as reviews or communications with others, may remain viewable by third parties if that information was previously shared or posted.

9. DATA SECURITY

We strive to maintain appropriate physical, administrative, and technical safeguards to protect your personal information from unauthorized access or misuse. Measures may include encryption, access restrictions, firewall protection, and intrusion detection technologies. However, no security system is entirely foolproof, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection of your data. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials, using strong passwords, and logging out of accounts or clearing sessions on shared devices. If you suspect any unauthorized activity in your account, you should notify us immediately so we can investigate and take appropriate steps.

10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our Platform is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you are a parent or guardian who learns that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us and we will endeavor to delete that information as required by law.

11. INTERNATIONAL VISITORS

UrbanMount is based in the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the U.S., please be aware that your personal information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in the U.S. or other countries with potentially different data protection laws. By using our Platform, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in accordance with this Policy and applicable law.

12. USER CHOICES AND CONTROLS

You have various choices regarding how we collect and use your personal information. You may update certain information in your account profile or choose to limit certain data we request (though doing so may limit the functionality of the Services). You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each message or by contacting us directly. To opt out of certain targeted advertising, you can adjust cookie preferences in your browser settings or use industry opt-out tools provided by the Network Advertising Initiative or the Digital Advertising Alliance. If you choose to uninstall the mobile application or revoke location or notification permissions, some features of our Platform may become unavailable. If you wish to permanently close your account, you may contact us to request account deletion. We will seek to fulfill such requests in a reasonable timeframe, subject to any retention obligations or legitimate interests under applicable law.

13. U.S. STATE PRIVACY RIGHTS

Certain states grant additional privacy rights to residents regarding the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information. These rights may include the right to access or delete personal data, the right to correct inaccuracies, or the right to opt out of specific data sharing. If you reside in a jurisdiction with such laws (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or Nevada), you may be entitled to exercise these rights. Details on how to submit requests can typically be found on our website or by contacting our support team. We will verify your identity prior to fulfilling any request, and we may refuse requests under legal exemptions. In general, we do not “sell” personal information for monetary value, but we may share limited data with partners for advertising or cross-contextual behavior analysis, which might be considered a “sale” or “sharing” under certain state laws. If you do not want us to use or share your information for such purposes, you may submit a request in accordance with local regulations.

14. SWEEPSTAKES, CONTESTS, AND PROMOTIONS

From time to time, UrbanMount may offer sweepstakes, contests, or similar promotional campaigns. These activities often involve additional terms and may require you to provide personal information to participate or to verify eligibility. We will use such information solely for the purposes stated in the promotion rules, such as contacting winners, delivering prizes, or complying with legal requirements. Please read any official rules carefully before entering.

15. THIRD-PARTY LINKS AND INTEGRATIONS

The Platform may contain links or integrations to external websites, social media plug-ins, or third-party applications that operate independently of us. We do not control these external services, and their respective privacy policies govern the collection and usage of your personal data. We are not responsible for the privacy or security practices of any external platforms, and you should review their policies prior to providing them with personal information or otherwise engaging with them.

16. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

This Policy may be updated or modified from time to time at our sole discretion. When we make significant changes, we will post a prominent notice on the Platform or notify you by email, provided we have a valid address on file. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy indicates the date of the most recent changes. Your continued use of our Services after the effective date of any revisions constitutes your acceptance of those changes, except where otherwise required by law.
